WHERE: Toone, TN
WHEN: August 29-31, 2008
VENUE: Clover Creek Aerodrome
Welcome to the Clover Creek Aerodrome website! We have made a lot of organizational progress since announcing the Clover Creek Invitational three weeks ago. John and Tina Schroder have logged countless hours getting the site prepared. Most recently, John put the finishing touches on his new hanger and laid new sod around the perimeter of the building. As of our last conversation, John was contemplating on what type of fence to put up around the pits. What else would look as pretty as a white picket fence? John is also scheduled to meet with the Hardeman County Chamber of Commerce. They are to discuss how their involvement with the event and early communication suggests they are very excited about the contest.
Anyone who has been involved with contest coordination knows that even the average weekend competition can be a monumental undertaking. Add to that a third day, unknowns everyday; an invitational class, and you have the potential for some serious overload on the contest staff. To that end, we are excited to announce two new additions to our organizational team. Mr. Stan Stockman and Mr. Kent Porter graciously volunteered their time and services as scorers. Both these individuals are true assets to the hobby and have the credentials to prove it. These gentlemen have managed and assisted contests such as the South East Regional Championships, US Nationals, The Don Lowe Masters, Triple Tree IMAC Classic, as well as numerous South East Region IMAC competitions. In addition to their contest management expertise, both are Southeast Regional Judging Instructors and have hosted IMAC Judging Seminars over the past several years. Their attention to detail is second to none, and they are working diligently at configuring the scoring program to accommodate our event. They have run several ‘test contests’ through the scoring program and verified that everything is operating correctly. Currently, Kent is loading each contestant’s name and information into the scoring database. When flying commences, the program will be ready to receive the scores.
Wayne Matthews, our Judging Coordinator and Chief Judge, has been working diligently to assemble a panel of eight judges assigned to the Invitational Class, and is in the final stages of developing the overall judging matrix. Please be sure to check out the biography of each judge when they become available. He has also had several volunteers offer their time to help judge the IMAC classes. This, however, does not eliminate the need for contestants to assist with judging. Not everyone will need to judge, so, in the interest of fairness, names will be drawn randomly to fulfill judging requirements. Additionally, Wayne has been in close contact with several sequence writers who are submitting Known sequence proposals for the Invitational class. These will be finalized and published on this website within a few weeks. IMAC classes, of course, will fly the 2008 IMAC known sequences. Unknowns for all classes will be handed out accordingly at the contest, one per day.
Registration fees for the IMAC classes are now being accepted. If you are slated to compete in the competition you should have received an e-mail providing instructions on how to submit your payment. The deadline for entry fee receipt is May 5, 2008. Pilot’s who do not meet this deadline will forfeit their slot in the contest. If you have any questions, please contact me at jtorqueroll@comcast.net.
Pilot Biographys are coming in from all classes, please take the time and get yours submitted if you have not already done so.
We will continue to update the site on a daily basis with more information regarding rules, guidelines, sponsors, and contest format as they become available. Get out and practice the knowns and learn the criteria by which you will be judged. It will make you a better pilot!
All the Best!

Contest Director
