Clover Creek Invitational

WHERE: Toone, TN

WHEN: August 29-31, 2008

VENUE: Clover Creek Aerodrome

Welcome to the “Aerodrome”!  We hope everyone is having a safe and happy summer flying season.  Much of your Clover Creek Event Team is preparing to head to Muncie, Indiana to compete in the US National Championships.  John Schroder is currently holding his IMAC Summer School with several students honing their skills to top form for the upcoming event.  Be sure to check back periodically for pictures from the Summer School.

We have posted some new pictures of John’s spectacular facility. The scenery is absolutely beautiful!  John and his crew have been working tirelessly to ensure the flying site is second to none!  I know I personally can not wait to arrive to see the fruits of their labor first hand.

We are pleased to announce that Clover Creek Aerodrome will be open to contestants on Monday, August 25.  The field will be available for practice flights from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM.  Competitors may arrive earlier, but John informed me that anyone who shows up before the 25th will be put to work in final field preparations!  So, if you would like to offer a helping hand, please consider this.  For people traveling by air, the closest airport is Memphis International, which is roughly a 1.5 hour drive to the field.

We also want to remind all registered IMAC pilots to please alert us if you are unable to attend.  Keep in mind that in order to receive a refund of entry fees you must notify us no later than 30 days prior to the contest.  Please advise us as early as possible in order to allow us the time to contact the next person in waiting, and for them to make arrangements to attend.

Have you noticed the list of sponsors recently?!  We are truly grateful to them for contributing to our event.  With some of the prizes we have on hand for the IMAC pilots, well, I’d suggest all the competitors practice, practice, and practice some more!  Just to name a few, how about some DA Engines, a 39% Krill Model YAK 55M aircraft, BME Engines, a Dalton Aviation 42% kit, radio gear, and lets not forget about the raffle planes that will be awarded to those holding the lucky tickets.  Club Hobbies has also generously offered to every competitor a Platinum Membership to their on-line Hobby Shop. Please visit their site to get registered and start taking advantage of this terrific offer.

The next update will include how awards will be dispersed among the IMAC classes. By looking over the biographies, it appears that all the classes have some pretty stiff competition, and nobody is going get away with a walkover victory.  Remember, don’t only practice your Known sequences, but get a copy of the Unknown maneuvers and elements that apply to your class and practice those as well. You can be sure its going to come down to the Unknowns!
The event staff will be at the Nationals, so if you plan on being there, don’t be a stranger, stop by and say hello.
Until next time – safe flying!
